nominee. while the editors praise president obama's early efforts to revitalize the economy through his stimulus plan, it concluded his record on the economy the past four years does not suggest he would lead in the direction the nation must go in the next four years. joining me now for the politics of weather and everything else is obama campaign senior advisor david axelrod. good morning, david. let me start here with the storm. when you look at virginia where this is likely to be the swing state most affected, does anything worry you about that state being more or less paralyzed by weather for a couple three, four days? >> well, the first thing i think we should say is we're most concerned about people. this storm could affect 50 million americans. the president has been in close contact with fema and dhs and all the agencies that have responsibility here to make sure we're doing everything we can for people, and that's what he is going to continue to do throughout this -- throughout this storm, and in terms of how it affects the election, i don't think anybody really knows. obviousl

's something in here for everybody. the republicans are saying this isn't good enough and the economy is at a standstill. democrats are saying look, we want to build on the progress that we're making. and so it is slow, but steady progress here and i think you have to look at some of the internal numbers here, 500,000 new people joined the labor force in the last month and look at these revisions over the previous months, in august, they revised from 142,000 jobs gained to 192,000 jobs gained. in september revised from 114,000 to 148,000 jobs gained. so big increases in the past month and that reflects a trend of jobs increasing in this country across the board. >> as a dorky bls question for you, which is the revision of these numbers, first of all, that's a pretty significant revision in august from 142 to 192,000 jobs. and even september, 114,000 to 148,000 jobs. are those kind of revisions traditional? i mean is that usually what happens when be we look at -- we're scrutinizing these numbers in a way we wouldn't be in 2011 and 2010 but are jumps like that normal? >> they are. you

. this is a swing constituency like in ohio. they're disappointed in obama on the economy and don't like where the republican party is on social issues. they've been bouncing back and forth between, you know, when they're focusing on the economy, they're voting for romney, when they're focusing more on the social issues they're voting for obama. i look at a constituency like that and think of an event like this, this is just major sort of natural disaster and you have bipartisan, cross partisan voices who are praising the president's leadership in this case and i almost could see that maybe would break the tie. >> yeah. >> right. bill clinton out there campaigning for obama, it can be effective but people expect bill clinton to be campaigning for obama. when it's chris christie suddenly the guy who's the keynote speaker at the republican convention speaking up and vouching for him, that's the kind of thing, people who are wavering back and forth, that registers with them to some extent. >> how are you hanging in personally dealing with the storm? >> i have it a lot better than most people. i u
